SEPTEMBER 2025 - Library Progress and Updates: It Finally Happened! We've Moved, We're Open!

We are thrilled to welcome you to our temporary location at Rimrock Plaza. The address is 4721 East Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs, CA 92264. Our phone number remains the same: 760-322-READ (7323). Our hours remain the same, open Monday-Saturday. If you haven’t stopped by yet, we’d love to see you. Story Times resumes September 4, and other programs will be hosted at various venues throughout the city. The best way to stay up to date is through our library mobile app.



Meanwhile, you’ll soon notice construction fencing around the main library as the renovation begins. We will send a special email with details once a groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled. Until then, come visit us at Rimrock Plaza. We can’t wait to see you.

Frequently Asked Questions:

• How long will the renovation take? We expect the project to take between 24-36 months.
• Can I access the books in storage? Unfortunately, no. With hundreds of boxes, it would be impossible to locate individual titles. However, we continue to purchase new books. Ask a Librarian if you need help finding something specific.
• Will you offer the same programming? Some programs will stay the same, others will move.

• Teen programs → Mizell Center
• Films & screenings → Welwood Murray Memorial Library
• Book Clubs → Welwood Murray Memorial Library (except Spanish Book Club, which stays at Rimrock and Outbook Book Club moved to the LGBTQ Center of the Desert)

• Where are the koi? They’re enjoying “foster care” in a beautiful local koi pond.
• Will the koi return? Yes. Their pond will be restored as part of the renovation.
