The Ramon Road Bridge over the Whitewater River is being improved to better serve the communities of Palm Springs and Cathedral City. This project will widen the existing bridge from four lanes to six lanes, providing three lanes in each direction, to enhance traffic flow and reduce congestion along this key corridor. Improvements will extend along Ramon Road from San Luis Rey Drive to Landau Boulevard, creating a safer, more efficient, and more accessible route for all commuters.
In addition to roadway widening, the project includes seismic retrofitting to improve structural resilience, installation of new bridge barriers, and construction of upgraded bridge supports within the river channel. Pedestrian and bicycle access will also be enhanced with a new 5-foot sidewalk on the north side and a 10-foot-wide multi-use path on the south side, separated from traffic by a physical barrier for added safety.
Community members and businesses are encouraged to sign up for project updates, construction alerts and engagement opportunities by visiting the project website at www.ramonroadbridgeproject.com.
