Residents and businesses invited to Community Open House and Ribbon Cutting for

Early Entry facility at new Palm Springs Homeless Navigation Center

WHAT: Community Open House and Ribbon-Cutting to mark the official opening of the Palm Springs Homeless Navigation Center’s Early Entry facility, operated by Martha’s Village and Kitchen.

WHEN & WHERE: Tuesday, March 12, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., 3589 Mc Carthy Road. The full Navigation Center is not expected to open until August 2024.

The event will include remarks from the following leaders involved in the project:

• Mayor Jeffrey Bernstein and members of the City Council

• Greg Rodriguez, Deputy Director for Government Affairs and Community Engagement, Riverside County Housing & Workforce Solutions

• Rosa Verduzco, Chief Operating Officer, Martha’s Village and Kitchen

• Andrew Mills, Palm Springs Chief of Police

• Alice Kimm, Project Architect

TOURS: Following the ribbon-cutting, members of the community are invited to tour the facility with staff. Tours will also be available in Spanish for members of the Latino community.

SUMMARY: The new Early Entry facility, operated by Martha’s Village and Kitchen, houses up to 50 residents waiting to be placed in independent modular units when they become available. This is not a drop-in center. The facility is by referral only from the Palm Springs Access Center.

• Intake for the Early Entry Facility is done at the Access Cente, 225 El Cielo. No Entry at the Early Entry Facility is allowed.

• Individuals can check in at the Access Center starting at 8 a.m.

Once the Navigation Center fully opens to unhoused residents later this summer, it will include:

• 80 prefabricated residential interim units and two rehabilitated buildings on site.

• The units will include kitchenettes and bathroom facilities.

• 65 units are designated for unhoused residents, and five units are designated for families.

• An additional 10 units are for transitional-aged youth experiencing homelessness.

• A children’s play area, green space, and dog park are also planned.

In addition, unhoused residents will receive comprehensive wraparound services.
