UPDATES:

Line Fire Update

If you see or smell smoke in the City of Palm Springs, it is from the feisty Line Fire in San Bernardino County. The fire made a run up the Santa Ana River drainage today. The last few days of normal temperatures have dried out both the vegetation and moisture from the air. Dry vegetation, steep slopes and wind aligned yesterday to create conditions for the rapid fire spread yesterday. Please follow for further updates: https://www.fire.ca.gov/incidents/2024/9/5/line-fire

A few things to keep in mind:
1. Stay inside if need be
2. Monitor air quality: https://fire.airnow.gov/
3. Stay hydrated
4. Keep indoor air clean

Brush Engine is Home

Today, your Palm Springs Firefighters performed a traditional “push-in” ceremony at fire station 3 by pushing the new engine into the apparatus bay. This ceremony dates back to the late 1800s when horse-drawn equipment was utilized. Firefighters would return to station after a fire call, the horses could not easily back the equipment, so firefighters would disconnect the equipment and push the apparatus back into the bay themselves. A HUGE thank you to PS Public Works, PS City Leadership and OUR PS Community. #team #151soon #legworkout #gym

National Preparedness Month

Even a small amount of rain can lead to dangerous flooding, especially in low-lying areas or places with poor drainage. Streets and sidewalks can become slick, and fast-rising water can create hazardous conditions in a short amount of time. Never underestimate the power of water—just a few inches can knock you off your feet or stall your vehicle. Stay informed, avoid flooded areas, and remember: turn around, don’t drown!
