ARREST MADE BY FBI IN CONNECTION WITH THE BOMBING

Update from the Palm Springs Police Department, June 4, 2025:

The Palm Springs Police Department is aware of an arrest made by the FBI in connection with the May 17 bombing incident. We appreciate the ongoing work of the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force as they continue their investigation. Our department remains fully committed to working with our federal partners. Keeping our community safe is our top priority, and we will continue working closely with the FBI to make sure that happens.

We ask our community members to avoid speculation, as this remains an active investigation. The FBI is leading the case and continues to keep us informed. We will continue to share updates with the public as information becomes available and appropriate to release.

HELP FOR BUSINESSES DAMAGED IN THE BOMBING

In response to the damage caused by the May 17 bombing of the American Reproductive Centers, the City of Palm Springs launched the Disaster Overlay Program to speed recovery and help the community rebuild. This specially designated area encompasses properties damaged in the attack. Please see flyer below for detailed information about the program.

Affected businesses should fill complete the fillable SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan Worksheet and return to Chief Economic Development Officer Wayne Olson: Wayne.Olson@palmspringsca.gov and Emergency Manager Danny DeSelms: Daniel.DeSelms@palmspringsca.gov A downloadable copy is available on the sidebar of this page.

We will continue to update the community about the deadly explosion at the American Reproductive Centers Clinic, 1199 N. Indian Canyon Drive just before 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025. The blast at the fertility clinic is being investigated as a an "intentional act of terrorism." One person was killed at the scene, and four others were injured.

The FBI has identified Guy Edward Bartkus, 25, of 29 Palms as the primary suspect in the Palm Springs vehicle explosion. The vehicle was a silver Ford Fusion sedan, plate 8HWS848.

All roads in the area are now fully open, including N. Palm Canyon Drive.

    The bomb blast has severely shaken the nerves of Palm Springs residents. This event was horrific for those who were close to the location and saw the results of the explosion, those who felt the shockwaves all across the City and experienced collateral damage to homes or business, and especially for the clients of the American Reproductive Center.

    The City is gathering information and contacts for mental health resources that are readily available to our community.
