Transforming Active Transportation in the Coachella Valley

Led by the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), CV Link is an award-winning plan to provide access for pedestrians, bicyclists, and low-speed electric vehicles (including golf carts) on a dual pathway that largely parallels Highway 111, the busiest corridor in the valley. CV Link will enable healthier lifestyles, spur economic innovation, and make the Coachella Valley a more sustainable and appealing place to live, work and play for many generations of residents and visitors. It will bring national recognition to the Coachella Valley as a leader in environmentally friendly transportation. As bicycling and walking become more popular modes of transportation and recreation, CV Link will help to reduce deadly conflicts with motorists as well as provide a safer connection to schools, employment centers, public spaces and many valley attractions.

Open Segments

There are currently three segments of CV Link open to ride. The West Valley segment of CV Link runs 19.63 miles beginning at the Palm Springs Visitor Center along the Whitewater River in Palm Springs and ending at Date Palm Drive in Cathedral City. The Central Valley segment of CV Link is on-street and along the Whitewater River in the City of Palm Desert and consists of 5.44 miles running from the Bump n’ Grind trail head and ending at Cook Street adjacent to Palm Desert High School. The East Valley segment of CV Link is 16.02 miles starting at Washington Street in La Quinta and concluding at Airport Blvd in Coachella.

CVAG is continuing to expand CV Link with community connectors including the Arts and Music Line along Avenue 48 and Dillon Road through La Quinta, Indio and Coachella, which is anticipated to begin construction in 2027. CVAG is also studying future CV Link community connectors and extensions to Desert Hot Springs and Mecca/North Shore. The approved CV Link project, as voted on by the CVAG Executive Committee in May 2017, does not include routes through Rancho Mirage or Indian Wells.
