  • Note – pavement markings (white and yellow lane lines) will be installed towards the last week of July/early August. This work is not as disruptive as paving and will be done within 2-3 hours within the segment of Caballeros. At any given time, crews will only be in front of a house for a few minutes before moving down the street during pavement markings installation.

PLEASE NOTE: All dates are tentative and subject to change. Construction hours: 7 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding legal holidays. Additional notification will be made 72 hours in advance of the pulverization of existing asphalt and will include anticipated start dates of the asphalt paving.

Asphalt removal and replacement are the most disruptive part of the Pavement Rehabilitation process. Residents may experience some vibrations during the rolling and compaction process. Street striping is typically completed two weeks after asphalt has been placed.

There may also be some utility adjustments, however, these activities are the least disruptive portion of work and are completed within a few hours. While there will be continuous activity, residents will always have access to their driveways, though there may be a momentary delay, and Matich will accommodate those who need access in the event of an emergency.

For help or questions concerning driveway access, please contact Matich foreman, Nick Brady (909) 991- 2174 or the Project Hotline (760) 846-5477.

INDIAN CANYON DRIVE CITY SEWER PROJECT

START DATE: WEEK OF JULY 27, 2025

ANTICIPATED COMPLETION DATE: MAY 2026

As part of the ongoing Indian Canyon Bridge Widening and Improvements project, the City of Palm Springs will begin the installation of approximately 8,900 feet of new sewer pipeline along North Indian Canyon Drive. This new infrastructure will extend from south of Palm Springs Station Road to W. Tramview Road.

This project is scheduled to commence the week of July 27th, 2025, with the contractor performing initial survey and utility location work. This preparatory phase will require the closure of the No. 1 NB lane from W. Tramview Road to Sunrise Parkway. Construction is projected to continue through May 2026.

The installation will involve a combination of tunneling beneath concrete pavement in certain areas and open trench methods for the majority of the pipeline. As work progresses, the project will impact both the No. 1 North and Southbound lanes of Indian Canyon Drive, necessitating periodic lane closures in specific sections of the road.

Please exercise caution when traveling through the construction zone and be aware of changing traffic patterns. The Construction Managers will be providing periodic updates on the project as it progresses.

PLEASE USE ALTERNATE ROUTES TO AVOID TRAFFIC CONGESTION AND EXPECT DELAYS AROUND THE AFFECTED AREAS.

GENE AUTRY TRAIL WIND WALL

Lane closure near construction site is ongoing

START DATE: JUNE 2025

ANTICIPATED COMPLETION DATE: DECEMBER 2025

Work is under way on the construction of an approximately 590' long brick wall along the North Gene Autry Trail corridor, an area we all know gets pummeled by strong winds and blowing sand - reducing visibility and creating sand dunes on the roadway.

The City Council, at its April 23, 2025 meeting, awarded a construction contract to Deark E&C Inc., in the amount of $2,195,800 million. The majority of the cost is covered by Measure A funds, a half-cent sales tax measure approved by Riverside County voters that provides dedicated funding for local streets and roads and invests in major regional transportation improvements

Work will continue through December 2025. More updates will be provided, including lane closures and other pertinent information.

CV LINK CONSTRUCTION ALERT: HIGHWAY 111 & TRAMWAY ROAD

START DATE: JULY 7, 2025

ANTICIPATED COMPLETION DATE: LATE SEPTEMBER 2025

The Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG), as part of their ongoing work on the "CV Link" project, began construction of the CV Link pathway from the Palm Springs Visitors Center along Highway 111 to the recently completed section of pathway along the Whitewater River Stormwater Channel Levee. This work will include street and crosswalk improvements along with replacement of the existing sidewalk & landscaping along Highway 111 adjacent to the communities of Mountain Gate and Palm Springs Villas II.

Residents along Highway 111 may experience periodic construction related noise or vibrations. Construction activities such as soil compaction, excavations, moving heavy machinery, etc., can cause ground borne vibrations that can physically be felt by neighboring properties.

A single lane closure on northbound Highway 111 is planned during construction, with flaggers to help direct traffic. A closure of the sidewalk will also occur along Highway 111 from Tramway Road to the Whitewater River Stormwater Channel.

Please use alternate routes to avoid traffic congestion and expect delays around the affected areas, All dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors and/or inclement weather.

START DATE: JUNE 16, 2025 (DEMOLITION)

ANTICIPATED COMPLETION DATE: EARLY AUGUST 2025

To meet fire and building codes and allow construction of a new PLAZA THEATRE entrance, the City will remove Kalura Trattoria’s existing patio in the shared courtyard with the Plaza Theatre.

A new 60-seat patio will be built along the public right-of-way on S. Palm Canyon Drive - from Ben & Jerry’s to Kalura (124 S. Palm Canyon Drive). This move ensures a required 20-foot-wide path from the theatre to the public sidewalk.

🔹 Demolition starts Monday, June 16 and will last about a week

🔹 Patio completion expected by early August

🔹 Intermittent lane closures on S. Palm Canyon (southbound lane near site)

This work is an important step toward reopening the Plaza Theatre on December 1.

TRIBAL PROJECT - CONSTRUCTION AT THE INTERSECTION OF LAWRENCE CROSSLEY AND DINAH SHORE

Granite Construction, for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, began work on the off-site improvements for a new gas station on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The project area is Lawrence Crossley Road and Dinah Shore Drive. The work will involve adding an island on Crossley and widening Dinah Shore at the intersection, adding turn pockets and accelerator lanes, and concrete improvements including curb, gutter, sidewalk, and ramps. The work is anticipated to take 3 to 4 weeks to complete.

The gas station will be built at the northwest corner of Lawrence Crossley and Dinah Shore and will include a fuel station with 24 gasoline/diesel fuel dispensers and a convenience store.

Please use alternate routes to avoid delays and backups near the closure areas.

There will be some lane closures but no full road closures are planned.

STORM DRAIN LINE 6, STAGE 3

ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION START DATE: LATE 2027/EARLY 2028

The City of Palm Springs and the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District (RCFC) are entering into a Funding/Cooperative Agreement for the construction of flood control improvements. The project consists of approximately 4,000 linear feet of reinforced concrete pipe (30-60 inches in diameter) and related structures. This pipeline will collect stormwater from the area and convey it underground along Avenida Caballeros where it will connect to existing storm drain infrastructure on Vista Chino. The goal of this project is to improve stormwater conveyance, reduce flooding risks, and protect property in Palm Springs.

This project is a major undertaking and while the long-term benefits of a flood control project of this nature are undeniable, there will be significant disturbances to traffic and community activities near the construction zone. See location map and typical installation pictures below.

As of mid-2025 This project is in its initial planning stages; residents and the community will not experience any inconvenience from this project until the construction begins, which may tentatively break ground sometime in late 2027 to 2028.

IMPACTED AREA ONCE PROJECT COMMENCES WILL BE BOTH NORTH AND SOUTHBOUND LANES ALONG AVENIDA CABALLEROS BETWEEN FRANCIS DRIVE AND VISTA CHINO (HIGHWAY 111).
