Palm Springs Black History Chartered Bus Tour
Time: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
The tour begins at the James O. Jessie Unity Center, the centerpiece of the Desert Highland Gateway Community, and the social, cultural, and recreational hub of the area.
You’ll learn about land developer and city planner Lawrence Crossley who came here in the 1920s. You’ll see the works of renowned midcentury modern architect Paul R. Williams..
The tour continues to Desert Highland Gateway Estates — Palm Springs’ largest predominantly black neighborhood — where community activists and athletes of worldwide repute have all lived. You’ll see several Historic Churches.
