Administrative Appeals Board
The Administrative Appeals Board consists of five (5) members and two (2) alternate members appointed by the City Council. The Board was established to hear appeals on actions taken by an administrative officer or administrative agency of the City relating to ministerial enforcement of the provisions of the Municipal Code.
The Board typically meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Airport Commission
This Commission consists of nineteen (19) members. Of which, ten (10) members are appointed by the Palm Springs City Council to serve three-year terms. This Commission studies and considers plans for the development of the Airport and develops valley-wide strategies for implementation of full customers facilities at the Airport.
This Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Architectural Review Committee
The Architectural Review Committee (ARC) is composed of seven (7) members and one (1) alternate member appointed by the Planning Commission. The ARC issues decisions on major architectural and landscape design applications and advise the Planning Commission, City Council and Planning staff on architectural and landscape design issues. The Committee shall consist of a minimum of three California licensed architects, a minimum of one California licensed landscape architect, and other design and/or technical professionals necessary to complete the membership of the committee. The Planning Commission may appoint an experienced architectural designer as a substitute for one of the licensed architects should there be an inadequate number of architects to serve on the committee.
This Committee meets on the first and third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Historic Site Preservation Board
This Board consists of seven (7) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. This Board issues decisions regarding applications to alter or demolish designated historic resources, potentially significant or eligible resources, and new construction in historic districts. The Board makes recommendations to City Council regarding the designation of historic resources and in all matters concerning historic preservation.
The Board meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Human Rights Commission
This Commission consists of nine (9) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. The Mission of the Palm Springs Human Rights Commission is to promote and protect the diversity of our community and to improve human relations through education and community awareness.
The Commission meets on the second Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Board of Library Trustees
This Board consists of five (5) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. The board reviews and amends library policy, reviews progress reports, discusses immediate and long-range library planning, prepares an annual budget, administers the Library Trust Fund, and prepares an annual report for the City Council and State Library.
The Board meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Measure “J” Oversight Commission
This Commission consists of nine (9) members and two (2) alternate members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. This Commission makes recommendations regarding programs and projects proposed to be funded in whole or part by Measure “J” revenues and priorities.
The Commission meets on the third Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Parks & Recreation Commission
This Commission consists of eleven (11) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. This Commission is an advisory board to the City Council and City Manager regarding creation or amendment of goals, polices, objectives and work plans in connection with existing or proposed recreational programs and facilities.
The Commission meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Planning Commission
This Commission consists of seven (7) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. The Planning Commission reviews applications for development within the City and makes recommendations on land use, zoning and General Plan policies to the City Council in a public forum to ensure the community can provide input.
The Commission meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Public Arts Commission
This Commission consists of seven (7) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. This Commission is responsible for procuring and placing visual art in and around the city of Palm Springs.
The Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
Sustainability Commission
This Commission consists of eleven (11) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. The duties of the Sustainability Commissioners are to identify, research, review, and make recommendations to the City Council regarding energy, natural resources and environmental impacts.
The Commission meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
VillageFest Board
This Board consists of seven (7) members appointed by the City Council to serve three-year terms. The Board was established to review and approve VillageFest vendors, interpret and apply rules and regulations approved by the City Council, suspend or revoke permits, and advise the City Council on matters relating to VillageFest. Members shall either be current retail merchants or have significant retail experience, or, in the alternative, one member may be a representative of the community-wide tourism industry.
